Disability Bowls

In December 2019 CIBC were presented with The Disability Kitemark by Bowls England to recognise all the club’s achievements with disabled bowlers. This is a very prestigious award and we are one of the few clubs to gain it.

Our club has in place relevant inclusion policies, a ‘Safeguarding Officer’ and qualified coaches. Within the club we have a growing number of bowlers with a range of disabilities (physical, sensory and learning difficulties).

They regularly participate in the unique game of indoor bowls and range from competitive national and local, league players to those who just enjoy a fun social session.

We run several different sessions and, as an all inclusive club, we hope you will find one that may be right for you.

Access – The club is situated in a single storey building with ramped disability access. There are 3 designated disability parking spaces within 30 metres of the main entrance.

Equipment – We have bowls of all sizes available free of charge. There are 4 specialist wheelchairs, ramps and rails to access the bowling green and aids to help visually impaired bowlers.

Facilities – The club has a wheelchair accessible toilet and security accessed male and female changing rooms.

There is a welcoming lounge plus a bar selling a wide range of drinks, hot and cold snacks and home made cake.

The lounge overlooks the 8 bowling rinks so it is ideal for socialising and watching the bowling.

Sessions – We currently offer free coaching sessions on Wednesdays between 12 noon and 2pm for bowlers with a range of disabilities.

At present , between 1pm and 2pm, it is primarily for visually impaired bowlers.

We can provide further information in audio or large print on request.

There are bowls drives 3 days a week, league matches Monday to Friday and friendly matches against other clubs at weekends for disabled bowlers who wish to play with and against non disabled bowlers.
